Diane Wood moved with her family to Harrisburg, NC in 2007 from Long Island, New York. In 2015, she discovered historic Statesville, fell in love with the community, and has been here since. In 1984, Diane attended the SUNY@Farmingdale for Business Management. In 1985, she transferred to the SUNY@Stonybrook for Pre-Med studies. She has over two decades of healthcare experience including nursing and utilized her skills in various areas of healthcare from private practice, nonprofits, and radiation oncology, ultimately discovering her passion for Urgent Care. She is still active with the American Red Cross. Helping others has always been her life’s work. During 2015, Diane and her family began volunteering at a local food pantry. In her neighborhood there were the homebound elderly. She discovered that many students at Mitchell College had class or work during the operational hours of the pantry. With the approval from the pantry, Diane opened her home two days a week to extend operational hours to those who couldn’t attend the pantry during regular distribution hours. Diane loves spending time with her daughter and two grandchildren, spending time in the community with friends, music, writing, painting, and volunteering.
